TDF fallout

Well the Tour didn’t go anything the way I thought it would. I thought it would be a tough slog, and that Armstrong would struggle through the tour. I couldn’t have been any more wrong. I went on a group ride yesterday and was talking to another rider. We couldn’t figure out whether or not Armstrong was actually that much better than everyone else or if his competiton wasn’t there this year. It’s really hard to tell. It’s a year for records. Virenque will get a record breaking 7th KOM jersey. I have mixed feelings about this accomplishment because of his involvement in doping. I would have liked to have seen Zabel win one last green jersey, but I believe his years of dominance are over and the torch is being passed to a new generation of sprinters. The real story of this year’s Tour was Voeckler’s noble performance. I really thought it was impressive to see him hang on to the yellow for so long. I really wish he could have held onto the white jersey. Well everyone is speculating on 7. I for one, am getting out of the prediction business.
