Well it’s about time for a GTD update. Well it’s been about a month since I’ve started my GTD endeavor. I feel like I have a lot to show for it, but I still have a lot to do. I think V .3 is an appropriate release number. I would say I’m about 30% done. I’d also like to say my GTD system has been battle tested under some very harsh real world conditions. I’ve had some really tough weeks that have pushed me to the edge of what my new-found organizational skills can accomplish. (more…)
Well I’ve been having a pretty hard week. So rather than keep stewing about things I don’t like, I thought I’d start thinking of the things I do like. (Did Julie Andrews start singing just now?) So here is a quick list of things I like
- Global Knives Keep your Wusthof and J A Henckels. Global slices the competition like a samurai. One piece forged molybdenum vanadium steel with perfect balance and a super sharp edge - no Iron Chef should be without one
- Pummelos Friends of mine introduced me to this great fruit a few months ago, and now I can’t stop eating em. Taste wise it’s like a pommegranate and a grapefruit combined, but it’s not as bitter as grapefruit and not as seedy as pommegranate. On a scale of 1 to 10 it’s an awesome!
- Martins Kettle Cooked Potato Chips I’m from Central PA and we know our snack food around here. We got Utz’s, Snyders, Anderson, Wege, Hammonds, and dozens more. We got great pretzels and chips and I love em all, but if there were only one potato chip I had to eat for the rest of my life, without a hesitation I would choose Martins Kettle Cooked. It’s the official chip of Air Force One and the only thing W. and I agree on.
- Snapple a Day Drinks I love smoothies, but unfortunately most are milk based and I’m lactose intolerant. Snapple a Day gives me that great smoothy experience and it’s soy based! Rockin
So I’ve had to disable my comments because of spammers. “Free online poker” managed to post a couple hundred comments on my blog, and they won’t stop. I think they’re watching my RSS feed and as soon as I post another article they vandalize it with more spam. I’ve been patient. I filter out and delete the spam that comes into my email and I don’t complain. Sure it’s annoying, but that’s life. Yet for some reason spamming my blog really gets me fired up. I feel like they’re vandalizing my property. On Halloween night this year someone threw an egg at my car, but it didn’t get me mad because I did so many dumb stupid things like that when I was young. It’s a rite of passage. I wouldn’t have even minded if they grafittied my car, but it would really p o me if they would have spraypainted my car with visit freeonlinepoker.com and got payed $.03 for it. There’s something really wrong with vandalizing for profit. It’s not something done out of youthful temerity. It’s done for greed. I think they’re doing it to raise their ranking in search engines. Well it’s back to the drawing board, I’ll have to find some wordpress module to help block the spam in the meanwhile you’ll have to keep your comments to yourself.
So they’ve turned the Polar Express into a movie. Can I stop there, or do I have to explain why that’s such a bad idea?
First of all it’s a 32 page children’s book that is getting tortured into a 97 minute movie. Second it’s a Caldecott award winner. Caldecotts are awarded for outstanding illustration in a children’s book. Taking a beautiful award winning hand-illustrated book and turn it into a CG movie is wrong on so many levels. I have nothing against CG. I bought the Final Fantasy movie when it first came out on DVD. I think CG is an art form in itself, but converting The Polar Express into a movie is like saying, “Hey let’s turn the Sistine Chapel into a CG movie!” As far as Tom Hanks’ involvement. I would expect no less from him, maybe he thinks he’ll win another Oscar for his versatility (Look at me I’m six people at once whee!).
I’m remarkably bummed out about this whole election. I’m very surprised. I usually have the cavalier Green Party attitude of, “eh, both parties are just as bad so who cares.” Well this time around I really seem to be affected. I’m usually very good at seeing the other side’s arguments, but I just can’t come up with one good logical argument for Bush, and that is personally very disturbing… So here are the things that are sort of comforting me: (more…)
So I’m watching the results and the Presidential Race is actually the least interesting to me. As a friend stated earlier today, “The election of a moderate president has less effect on my day to day life than the window blinds I just bought.” I tend to agree. However the people we elect to represent Pennsylvania has a much bigger effect on me. Right now Hoeffel is 1% behind Specter which just blows my mind considering Specter’s stay in the Senate is carbon datable. Most people who voted for Hoeffel today probably can’t even spell his name. My question is where were you guys in the last elections. If all these anti-Bush people turned out for midterm elections, maybe we wouldn’t have so much dead wood representing us.
