Well here is my wishlist for 2005
- First and foremost I hope that the world comes together to help the victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami. I hope “coalition of the willing” means something more than just willing to wage war. If anything positive comes out of this tragedy, perhaps it will be a new sense that there are more important things in the world than just the US and terrorism.
- On a much shallower note, I can’t wait until MacWorld in January. Two things are rumored and I hope both of them are true. Rumor has it that mac will make a sub-$500 desktop. Finally I can give my parents something reliable and cheap for them to check their email. Also rumored is a flash iPod. I really don’t need/want a big 20Gb iPod. I’d just like something tiny to use while jogging or weightlifting.
- I’d like all comment spammers to cease and desist. Actually I’d like all spammers to stop. I also wish people would stop giving spammers money. While I’m at it I wish malware/spyware distributors would stop too. I also wish antivirus companies would include spyware as part of their virus defs instead of selling it as a separate product. Of course none of this will happen as long as money is more important than scruples.
- I wish bow ties would come back into fashion. I really like bow ties, because they’re formal, work well with sweaters, and don’t get in your food.
- I wish Wes Anderson would stop making movies
- I wish I could afford a G5
- I wish people could support cancer research without wearing those annoying little yellow bracelets
- I hope I can survive until 2006
