Presidential Physical Fitness for Adults

Filed under: Fitness — sandblade @ 1:21 am

I always liked the concept of the Presidential Physical Fitness Test. I liked the fact that once a year the whole school population was dragged out to see how fit or unfit they were compared to their peers. I think this idea would be far more effective as an adult. Currently I’m out of shape compared to where I probably could be, but I have no benchmark of where I should be compared to my age group. I think benchmarks are important because it draws that line in the sand of how far you should let yourself go.

The presidential physical fitness benchmarks stop after school age. After that there wasn’t any data to find out what percentile you should be in. However I just recently discovered this benchmark in the Washington Post. Shazam, just what I’ve been looking for. I’ll post up my results soon. Feel free to put up your stats as well.

RC isn’t just for Russian Circles

It also stands for Royal Crown soda. I always feel bad that RC is such a distant third to Coke and Pepsi. If you’ve never had an RC and Moonpie, you’re missing out on a piece of Southern Americana. So while searching for RC products I stumble upon their premium product, RC Draft Cola. It looks just like a Japanese beer can from far away. I’m sure that’s not entirely accidental. I’m really curious as to what this premium draft experience is like, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. So if any of you out there (all five readers) find it, please let me know - because I am so post cola.

Not Doing It

In the past two days I’ve put the new macbook in my shopping cart and chickened out pulling the trigger. I couldn’t figure out what my hang up was, until I listened to episode 79 of MacBreak Weekly. I think Scott Bourne is correct and that the last speed bump is a tie-over until a significant upgrade happens later this year. So what am I waiting for? I think Intel is going to upgrade the chipset sometime this summer and hopefully upgrades the GMA graphics. I also think it’s only a matter a time before all the laptops have LED backlights. So this is my pledge, I will buy the next macbook with an LED screen. I’ve just setup a savings account, with the money I would have spent on the laptop. Are you listening Jobs? My money is just sitting there waiting for you to get moving on my challenge.
